As a personal interest, I looked a bit into the history of DAX components, with nice Claude assistance.

My interest angle was to check ‘survivabilty’ of companies there and it seems quite impressive,

i.e. 11 companies still in the index from the foundation. And 60%+ there for more then 20 years.

Others (out of 81) which went through additions/exclusions since 1988, almost all are still operational in some form.

• Acquired ~35%+
• 20% in mid-cap
• 35% otherwise operational
• And ‘just’ 3 out of 41 excluded at some point went out of business

So, all in all, public industrial/corporate Germany’ top has been pretty resilient.
